Roly Poly Chair
The Roly-Poly chair has been recognised as an iconic design of the last decade.
Launched in 2014 as part of Faye Toogood’s Assemblage 4, its smooth, rounded, voluptuous shape was inspired by motherhood.
The fibreglass chairs are hand-cast in moulds by a skilled, small-scale, British manufacturer and made to order in colours raw, charcoal and cream.
Further editions of the Roly-Poly chair have explored working with different solid materials and finishes, from brushed aluminium to gold leaf. Faye Toogood’s Assemblage 5, entitled Earth, Moon, Water pushed the boundaries of manufacture with chairs cast in solid cob composite, patinated bronze and crystal barium glass.

Fay Toogood
Faye Toogood is a British designer. Her furniture and objects demonstrate a preoccupation with materiality and experimentation. All of her pieces are handmade by small-scale fabricators and traditional artisans, with an honesty to the rawness and irregularity of the chosen material. With an academic training in the theory and practise of fine art, and a vocational background at the forefront of the magazine industry, Toogood approaches product design with a singular and acutely honed eye. Her highly sculptural work, while showing an astute respect for the past, is derived from pure self-expression and instinct. Toogood’s objects are grouped together into her trademark numbered ‘Assemblages’. Designer's products Roly Poly Chair Fay Toogood
